LuHelen Zink, 93, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Grand Plains
Skilled Nursing in Pratt. She was born on August 2, 1929, near Neola,
Kansas to William Carl and Bertha Lillian (Hodson) Smith. LuHelen
married Grover Alan Zink on December 13, 1951, in St. John. He preceded
her in death on June 10, 2007.
LuHelen graduated from Turon
High School in 1947. She was a homemaker, member of Turon Christian
Community Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and served
as 7th District President from 1965-1966. She enjoyed genealogy,
correspondence and was known as the local historian.
She is
survived by her sons, Gary A. (Kathy) Zink of Ponca City, Oklahoma,
Timothy K. (Lori Holcomb) Zink of St. Louis, Missouri and Andrew T.
(Donna Stueve) Zink of Turon; son in-law, Brennan Byrne of Pennsylvania;
brother, Thayer (Kay) Smith of Ellsworth; sister in-law, Norma Lee
Smith of Hutchinson; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a
large number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
LuHelen is
preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jon B. Zink; daughter,
Kathryn Z. Byrne; and brothers, Glynne and Grant Smith.
Visitation was Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country
Club Road, Pratt. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday,
April 7, 2023, at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt with Chris Clark presiding.
Burial will follow at Neola Cemetery, Neola.
