
Dorothy Helen Wall was born June 12, 1932, in Hutchinson, KS, to Merwin and Electa (Strawn) Shultz and died October 25, 2023, in Hutchinson, KS.
She married Elmer L. Wall on November 18, 1951, in Hutchinson. He passed away July 31, 1997.
Dorothy graduated from Reno Community High School, Nickerson, KS in 1950.
She was a bookkeeper for Payway Feed Mill in Hutchinson and Clasen-Morse Chevrolet Dealership in Overland Park, KS, 13 years before moving to Edmond, OK. She was a 30-year member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and belonged to the Epsilon Xi chapter in Hutchinson, KS, 12 years and Epsilon Rho chapter in Overland Park, KS, for 18 years. She held office of president several times in her chapters, other offices over the years as well as serving on different committees. She was named Outstanding Woman of the year, and was Zone 2 Chairman within the organization in Overland Park, KS. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Hutchinson and served on several church committees in cities where she lived.
Her husband worked 42 years with Campbell Taggart Associated Bakeries (Rainbo Bread) in Hutchinson with Betts Baking Co. as Controller and transferred to different places ending up in Edmond, OK. She was a member of New Covenant United Methodist Church Edmond, OK, before returning to Hutchinson attending First Church of the Nazarene.
Her hobbies included Bridge, Oil painting, Quilting, Scrapbooking, and endless crafts. She enjoyed playing with her great grandchildren whenever she could and visiting with family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her: children, Vickie (Alan) Miller, Holiday Island, AR, Gary (Karen) Wall, Sanger TX, and Barry (Gale) Wall, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Kyle (Tashina) Miller, Belton, TX, Jennifer (Justin) Kendall, Sanger, TX, Lauren Rider, OK, and Clay (Tiffany) Wall, Palm Bay FL; great-grandchildren, Cooper Miller, Izabell Kendall, Brayton Rider, and Kurtis and Kieli Wall; brother, Douglas (Sandy) Shultz, Nickerson, KS; sister, Diana Parsons, Pratt, KS; sister-in-law, Carole Shultz, Hutchinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer, grandson Michael A. Miller, great-grandson Braxton F. Rider, sisters Dollie (June) Schiewe and Darlene D. Eiland, brothers Delbert L. Shultz, and Darrell L. Shultz.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Kent Pedersen officiating. Burial will follow in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, with family present to receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary.
