HAVEN, Kan. — The Haven School Board kicked off the new year with the naming of their board president and vice president. The board appointed Chris Powell as president and Jessica Schmidt as Vice President.

Once the board got down to business they discussed renewing the Yoder Charter School’s charter for next year. There could be some changes in the charter next year as the school wants to develop some agriculture related curriculum. The plan is to do some pilot programs  to see what can be implemented into the classroom for next year and then put the program into full gear the following year.

Also Monday night, the board discussed an application for ESSER funds. The thought at the moment is to use the funds for incentive pay for employees and use a portion of the funds to make major upgrades to the HVAC units at school facilities.
