HUTCHINSON, Kan. — With the renovation of the J. Bernard White Park along 5th Avenue in progress, the Hutchinson Public Art and Design Council is searching for an artist to take on a public art project at the park.

The park was named after J Bernard White, a WWI veteran who lived in the Creekside Neighborhood.

The three projects possible for this park are:

A sidewalk mural alongside Cow Creek in the park.

A 2D art installation attached to the 4 ft. tall chain link fence facing 5th Avenue.

A weather-proofed sculpture displayed on the park grounds.

Projects that support and encourage community involvement will be given priority. The selection committee will also prioritize art that features themes that tie in with Cow Creek, the history associated with J. Bernard White, or a general theme of sidewalk transportation.

The project needs to be accomplished within a budget of $2,500 and installed before May 2022. Questions and project proposals should be submitted to Sean Thomas at [email protected] by January 31st.
