HUTCHINSON, Kan. — You don't have to wait until the calendar turns over to get your post-holiday workouts started at the Hutchinson YMCA. You can come in any time this week and get the same deal you would after New Year's.
"We are waiving the joiner fee," said David Foster with the Y. "For adult memberships, that's usually $50. You're saving money right off the bat. Then, there is no prorate for the month, either, so you wouldn't pay anything until your first draft date, which is on the 15th of every month."
In other words, you would pay nothing between now and Jan. 15. You also can consult with a personal trainer about the best plan for you in 2024.
"I always sit down with potential clients and we have a consultation," said Wellness Coordinator Shaley Smith. "Talk about some of those fears, some of those things that they are worried about, what their goals are, where their current fitness level is, and build a program for them based off of that, so they feel comfortable, they feel safe in our environment."
If you are starting an exercise program, it's good to start with someone.
"Accountability is a huge part of it," Smith said. "A lot of the time, my clients really just need that accountability portion. Whether it's their trainer or bringing a friend, being part of a group. We do have group training, as well as individual training."
The easiest way to start is to go by the Y and check it out. They are open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
