Loretto Rae Morton, 87, died peacefully February 2, 2025, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born December 30, 1937, in Salina, to Otis Warren and Bernice A. (Burger) Bennett.
Loretto graduated from Lincoln High School, Lincoln, KS, in 1956, attended Washburn University, and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Stormont Vail School of Nursing in 1959. She worked as a registered nurse and a lab technician. Loretto enjoyed gardening, working in her flower beds, and sewing. First and foremost, faith and family were Loretto’s number one priority. She taught children’s Sunday School for over 40 years and was currently a member of Bethany Church of the Nazarene. Loretto was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.
On November 22, 1959, she married Walter “Penn” Morton, in Lincoln, KS.
Loretto is survived by: her husband of 65 years, Penn of Hutchinson; five children, Mark Morton (Renee) of Manhattan, and their children, Caleb Morton and Andrew Morton, Amy Surage (Anthony) of Monument, CO, and their children, Melissa Regnier (deceased), Matthew Regnier, and Laura (Regnier) Bierma, Beth Morton of Hutchinson, Megan Oswalt (Dick) of Hutchinson and their children, Richie Oswalt and Collin Oswalt, and Mary Weis (Steve) of Gypsum and their children, Taylor Weis and Kate Weis; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Bob Bennett (Linda) of Houston, TX, Ron Bennett (Diane) of San Antonio, TX, Tyra Williams (Bill) of Wichita, and Royce Bennett (Joyce) of Lincoln, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter Melissa Regnier.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2025, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastors Jason Avery and Johnnie Spellman officiating. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will receive friends following her service at Elliott Chapel.
