Shirley Ann Farris, 71, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away September 1, 2024.
She was born January 21, 1953, in Sterling, Kansas, the daughter of Alvin and Mary (Jones) Cruth. Shirley has resided in Sterling since 1969, formerly of Alden, Kansas. She graduated from Sterling High School, with the class of 1971. Shirley was a cook for twelve years at the Sterling Café and a custodian for Sterling Grade School for twenty-five years. She was a member of the Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter #32 of Sterling.
Shirley loved to cook, enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels, and loved all animals. She was an avid Kansas University Basketball fan, 49’s Football fan, and Rolling Stones fan. Shirley loved going to Kanopolis Lake and most of all spending time with her family and friends.
On May 10, 1975, Shirley was united in marriage with David Farris in Alden. Shirley is survived by her husband, David of Sterling, KS; son, Chad Farris of Sterling, KS; daughter, Haley Brown and husband Joshua of Raymond, KS; three grandchildren, Owen Brown, Kevin Brown, and Khloe Brown.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Marvin Cruth. Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, September 6, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling, with Mark Tremaine officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling, with family present. Memorials may be given to Friends of Animals Rice County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
