Driver in crash that killed 3-year-old, injured 6 accused of DUI

KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal Tuesday afternoon crash south of Kansas City made an arrest.

According to online arrest reports, 65-year-old Sarah P. Hollister of Brinkley, Arkansas, who was driving the Ford Explorer that rolled killing a 3-year-old and injuring 5  on MO 7 in Cass County faces requested charges of felony child endangerment and driving while intoxicated. She was initially held at the Cass County Regional Hospital in Harrisonville.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the 2000 Ford Explorer driven by Hollister was eastbound on MO 7 just east of Freedom Road southeast of Kansas City.

The SUV traveled off the left side of the road. Hollister overcorrected causing the vehicle to skid and roll. A 3-year-0ld girl was ejected before the SUV came to rest in the median.  The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

EMS transported Hollister and passengers Tyrone C. Harris, 41; Ashley V. Payne, 26; Kevon T. Johnson, 23, and two 10-year-old boys all of Brinkley, Arkansas to Cass Regional Medical Center.  Only a 10-year-old boy was wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
