Debbie (Mings) Ford, 72, of Hutchinson, KS, entered into the loving arms of her Savior on May 2, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her devoted family and caregivers.
Debbie was born on October 14, 1952, in Medicine Lodge, KS, the daughter of Charles Mings and Helen (Sails) Sizelove. She graduated from Halstead High School in 1970 and continued her education at Salt City Business College in Hutchinson, where she earned her business degree.
In 1979, Debbie married Ben Ford, her beloved partner and best friend, with whom she shared a deep, unwavering bond. Together, they created a life filled with laughter, love, and shared dreams until Ben’s passing.
Debbie dedicated her career to serving others, beginning as a restorative aide at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home. She later held positions in social services, accounts payable, and business office management at Golden Plains Healthcare Center, now Diversicare of Hutchinson, where she became a respected leader and advocate for compassionate care.
Debbie’s passions extended beyond her work. She was a loyal KU Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs fan, known for cheering enthusiastically during games. She cherished quiet moments spent fishing and found great pride in watching her beloved Ben umpire at Fun Valley and the Lionette Field. Her faithful dog, Sandi, was a constant source of companionship and comfort.
Known for her warm and welcoming spirit, Debbie had a way of making others feel loved and appreciated. She especially enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, like sharing a meal with family and friends. Her eyes would light up whenever someone brought her Chick-fil-A, instantly winning them a place in her heart for the day. When she wasn’t enjoying her favorite meal, you could find her tuned into 24/7 Fox News, often excited to see President Trump, with a deep appreciation for the country she loved.
Debbie was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where her faith was a guiding light throughout her life.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her devoted sister, Leta Thomas; siblings, Katie McPheeters, Mark Sizelove, and Cindy Pyl; her children, Patrick Ford, Jennifer Trammell (husband Clyde) were her devoted caregivers, Eric Ford, Bradley Ford, and Bryce Hazen; thirteen cherished grandchildren; thirteen beloved great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close.
Debbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ben; her cherished daughter, Shari Ann Vice; great-granddaughter, Harley Trammell; and her beloved pets, Roscoe, Levi, Garrett, and Bruno.
A special acknowledgment is extended to the extraordinary caregivers who became part of Debbie’s family through their loving care: Teresa Scheuerman, Alix Kendall, Samantha Juarez, and Tricia Spencer with All Saints Homecare; Kinzie Comley; Cara Conaway; and Kristina Moungkhoth, RN, with Compassus Hospice. You were the answer to her family’s prayers, providing comfort, dignity, and unwavering support that allowed her to remain in the peace of her home. Your compassion and faithfulness will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Debbie’s life, led by Pastor Brian Lee, will be held on May 27, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 4815 E. Fourth Ave., Hutchinson, KS. Honorary pallbearers will include Devan Trammell, Dylan Trammell, Nicholas Sanders, Dallas Ables, Peyton Ables, Nicholas Hazen, and Carter Boehlke, whose love and support meant so much to Debbie.
