Yoder Charter School to close

HAVEN, Kan. — According to a letter sent to parents on Tuesday, Haven USD 312 Superintendent Craig Idacavage let them know that Yoder Charter School will be closing at the end of this school year.

The USD 312 Board of Education made the official decision at their board meeting Monday.

"The decision to close Yoder Charter School was not made hastily," Idacavage wrote. "It follows a thorough evaluation of various factors, including enrollment trends, financial impact, allocation of resources and achievement data."

Students currently enrolled at Yoder Charter School will be allowed to enroll at Haven Grade School and Haven Middle School, if they so choose.

"These buildings will work with families to make sure this transition is as smooth as possible," Idacavage said.

The intent is to use the space at Yoder to continue the Little Learners PreK and move forward with additional early childhood opportunities at Yoder for the entire district.
