Lonnie Ray Ensminger, 86, a lifetime McPherson County resident, peacefully entered the arms of Jesus on Monday, August 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Bethesda Home in Goessel, KS.

Lonnie was born May 22, 1938, in McPherson, KS, the son of Clarence Ray and Lillian Grace (Hulse) Ensminger. He attended elementary school in a one room school, West Fairview, and graduated from McPherson High School in 1956.  On August 19, 1961, Lonnie was united in marriage to Loueen Marie Lough at the Hebron Lutheran Church in Burdick, KS. This union was blessed with daughters, Lona and Lori.

He was a machinist, mechanic, and Assistant Superintendent of Electrical Production at McPherson Board of Public Utilities where he worked for 41 years, retiring in 1998. Following retirement, he enjoyed tinkering with  Cushman motor scooters.

Lonnie was a United States Navy veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post #24. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and Cushman scooters, camping, traveling in his 5th wheel trailer, and spending winters in Rio Grande Valley, TX. For many years, Lonnie and Loueen loved being winter snow birds in Texas. He belonged in the Kansas Cushman Club and was a member of Countryside Covenant Church. Most of all, he loved his God, God’s word, and his family. He and Loueen had a blessed marriage and wonderful relationship with their daughters and grandchildren, crediting it all to their forgiving and loving Lord. He loved spending time with family and working on projects with and for anyone.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Loueen “Weenie” Ensminger; two daughters, Lona Corbus and Lori (Jim) VanGoethem, all of McPherson, KS; a sister, Twila (Gary) Mehl of McPherson, KS; three grandsons, Jerod (Katelyn) Corbus, Jori VanGoethem, and Dawson (Zoe) VanGoethem; two great-grandchildren, Jay Stutzman and Emelia Corbus; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Lillian Ensminger, and siblings, Darrell Ensminger, Wayne Ensminger, and Richard Ensminger.
