HUTCHINSON, Kan. —  Hutchinson and Reno County Chamber of Commerce CEO Debra Teufel spoke at the City Council meeting Tuesday about the next steps for the Downtown Master Plan project.

"The next step is to do a community visioning workshop next Tuesday, Feb. 28," Teufel said. "That is actually a virtual visioning workshop. It will begin at 5:30 p.m. and should be about a three hour visioning workshop process that stakeholders across the community have been invited to. You can still sign up for that."

There will be an in person event later this spring for input, too.

"Olsson Studio will be doing some work behind the scenes and then they will be here in the community April 11 through 13," Teufel said. "They have scheduled some events at Memorial Hall which will include charettes that also involve you and the community in gathering input into the next steps of the plan, with the goal of them delivering a final plan to us this fall."

You don't need to block out all three days for the event. They will put out a schedule as it gets closer. Also, as part of the funding of the master plan, the Chamber is hiring a part-time employee.

"You will see, on our website right now, we are accepting applications, you can go to hutchchamber.com or the Greater Hutch job posting site and see the posting for a Downtown Hutch coordinator," Teufel said. "That is a part time position right now. It will report to our economic development manager and myself. We appreciate your funding for that half-time position, as well."
