
Elizabeth June “Betty” Smith, 91, died November 1, 2023, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born June 22, 1932, in Hutchinson, to George and Lucille (King) Ellsworth.
Betty married Elmer Smith on June 27, 1947. They worked side-by-side owning Smith Construction, building new homes. After Elmer’s death, Betty became the owner of her own rental business. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, and being involved in the community. Betty was a member of the Red Hat Society, Sweet Adelines, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, and Women of the Moose Hutchinson Chapter #1371.
Betty is survived by: her children, Candace McClure (Gary), Randal Smith (Susan Muhlenkort), Kimberly Moots (Rick Cline), all of Hutchinson, Jeffrey Smith of Peabody, and Gregory Smith (Michelle) of Inman; seven grandchildren, Jason McClure, Brandy Willison, Jody McClure, Dalton Achilles, Austin Moots, Trenton Moots, and Brandon Smith; 15 great-grandchildren, Tyler McClure, Emma Elizabeth Gilbert, Maddie Willison, Landon Shealy, Easton Achilles, Dylan Schrag, Kolbi Schrag, Tanner Schrag, Taite Moots, Paisley Moots, Hadley Moots, Caleb Moots, Noah Moots, Bronson Smith, and Jerri Smith; and two sisters, Linda Whitney and Barbara Wade.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Elmer; an infant daughter; two brothers, George Ellsworth and Larry Ellsworth; and two sisters, Frances Davies and Sandra Lingle.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2023, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson, with Pastor Karen Dalke officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
