ABBYVILLE, Kan. — The Abbyville Rodeo announced on social media this week that it won the PRCA Small Rodeo of the year.
“For a community that has never had a population greater than 150, this was our 60th year of rodeo," Jeff Welker said when accepting the award. "We are now into the 3rd and 4th generation of people helping with it and it’s huge. We have people and kids that are coming back because their grandparents lived in Abbyville, even if they’ve never lived in Abbyville themselves, they just keep coming back to help put on the rodeo and it’s just fantastic.”
The 2023 Abbyville Rodeo is scheduled for May 19 and 20, 2023.
