NEWTON, Kan. — The first half of 2023 saw more than $17,000 in public improvement projects in downtown Newton, with an additional $5,526 in city investment to support various events in the downtown area.
Public improvements included an ADA ramp at 122 E. Sixth Street, repainting decorative lighting, parking lot repairs, and repairs to an alley entrance on the 100 block of West 6th Street.
Ten special events were supported through public investments with city staff time for street closures, street cleaning, and placing flags along Main Street.
The mill and overlay project for K-15 (Main Street) from the BNSF Railway crossing to the north city limits has been delayed to 2024.
