HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Celebrate the legacy of the Cosmosphere with an evening of unforgettable fun! From 6 to 11:30 p.m., Friday, October 20, the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, Kansas will be the site of Lunapalooza.
"We have a new documentary that's going to be playing in our digital theater called Moon on the Prairie," said Mary Smith with Cosmosphere. "We're going to be playing it about every half hour. I have not gotten a chance to see it yet, so I'm really excited."
Experience four different venues throughout the Cosmosphere. Including a Craft Beer Bar, Scotch + Bourbon Bar, Coffee House + Wine Bar with acoustic music and a groovy Disco.
"One of our staff members is going to be doing a little presentation on bourbon," Smith said. "He's kind of like an expert at it. We're going to have our telescopes outside to do some observing, weather permitted. We have our live auction that we're going to be doing to give away some amazing trips. We have our silent auction that has trips, and all sorts of items that you can bid on and you don't have to be on site to bid. You can bid on those online if you check out our website at cosmoevents.org."
There are also some big drawings connected with the event.
"We're doing a raffle to raffle off an OMEGA Watch that is signed by Fred Haise, one of the Apollo 13 astronauts," Smith said. "That's absolutely amazing and we're very thankful that he provided the autograph on the box for us, along with a very, kind of rare, Luis Vuitton bag that we're raffling off."
You can buy tickets for those raffles online, as well between now and Oct. 20 at cosmoevents.org.
