Country Threshing Days Friday through Sunday

GOESSEL, Kan. — The Wheat Heritage Engine and Threshing Company is holding its annual Threshing Days in Harvey County in Goessel this weekend.  

More than 100 exhibitors from a 7-state area display and demonstrate antique equipment related to farming during the past century. Additional demonstrations and ethnic Mennonite food are provided in conjunction with the Mennonite Heritage & Agricultural Museum.

Admission is five dollars at the gate. Children 11 and under get in free.

Goessel, Kansas (population 500) is located on highway K-15, about 12 miles north of Newton and 40 miles north of Wichita.

Friday, August 4

11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Lunch (WHEAT Hall)

12:00 p.m. Gates open

All Afternoon Sawmill Demonstrations

All Afternoon Pedal Tractor Raffle tickets on sale (WHEAT Building #1)

2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Large Engines Start-up (large engine building)

3:00 p.m. Threshing Demonstrations

3:30 p.m. Field Demonstrations – corn binding/shelling/cutting

7:00 p.m. Mennonite Heritage & Agricultural Museum: Haymakers – acoustic group.

Saturday, August 5

9:30 a.m. Parade on Main St., line up at 9:00 a.m., map at exhibitors booth

10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Low German meal by Menn. Heritage and Ag Museum (Goessel grade school)

10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. BBQ Sandwiches, bierocks, New Year’s Cookies at the Museum Prep School

11:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. Threshing Demonstrations
