South Hutchinson to begin enforcing parking ordinance

Posted Apr 08, 2021 4:43 PM

SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The city of South Hutchinson will begin enforcing a parking ordinance that involves larger vehicles.

The ordinance has been in place since 2010. It prohibits vehicles or trailers weighing over 16,000 pounds from parking on residential streets for more than two hours. If longer than two hours, the vehicle must be in the process of being loaded or unloaded and have the required permit.

Interim City Administrator Larry Paine says the city will start handing out copies of the ordinance to violators and will continue to do so until the end of the month. Starting in May citations will then be issued. The matter is being addressed after a number of complaints regarding semitrailers and other heavy vehicles parking on side streets.
