Police: SW Kan. woman texted 911 for help after violent attack

FINNEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect for an alleged violent attack on a woman.

Just after 9p.m October 17, police  were dispatched to the north part of Garden City after 911 communications received an inaudible call from a woman. She then texted 911 stating she needed help.

Upon arrival, officers observed a woman in distress and learned she had been in a physical altercation with a man known to her.

The investigation revealed that the woman and the man, identified as Siraj Mohamad, 43, Garden City, got into an argument, and the woman attempted to leave.

Mohamad allegedly became upset, struck the woman several times, and prevented her from leaving.

Mohamad allegedly strangled the woman and upon letting her go, the woman was able to contact 911. Police arrested Mohamad on requested charges of  Aggravated Domestic Battery and Criminal Restraint.
