WASHINGTON—On Wednesday, the House Oversight Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic held the panel’s first hearing of the 118th Congress on “Investigating the Origins of COVID-19,” to gather facts about the origination of the virus that has claimed nearly seven million lives globally. Former CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield joined public health and science professionals and advocates to testify.

Mounting evidence continues to point to the virus originating from a lab leak, with the Department of Energy and Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Christopher Wray announcing this month they believe, based on their evaluation of the evidence, COVID-19 likely came from a lab leak in Wuhan.
