HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Earnings for companies with ties to Reno County will begin on Wednesday when Union Pacific releases its numbers.
The nation's largest railroad looks to continue a strong 2023, where it reported first quarter net income of $1.6 billion, or $2.67 per diluted share. These results include $107 million in other income from a one-time real estate transaction.
Inflation took a bite into the railroad in early 2023, with total revenue carloads down 1%.
UP operates about 25 trains per day in Reno County, which include intermodal and grain shipments.
