KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a deadly shooting at a Kansas City home have identified the girl who died as  11-year-old Kourtney Freeman.

Just before 10p.m. Wednesday police were dispatched to the 3300 block of Flora in Kansas City on a sound of shots call, according to KDPC Captain Jake Becchina.

While officers were on the way the call was upgraded to a shooting with a victim inside a residence at the address.

Officers were led inside a home where they located a Freeman unresponsive. Officers rendered aid and called for EMS who responded, took over treatment and transported her to the hospital where she was declared deceased a short time later, according to Becchina.

Detectives spoke with people who were at the scene when officers arrived and canvassed for witnesses. Crime scene investigators processed the scene for evidence to hopefully give detectives an idea of what led up to the shooting. Police released no addition details early Thursday.
