
Lucretia Helene Nichols, 93 died November 14, 2023 at her home in Hutchinson, KS, surrounded by family and friends. She was born March 14, 1930 in Pawhuska, OK to Robert and Annie Alexander Boylan.
Lucretia graduated from Bookerteen High School in Pawhuska, OK. She attended Hutchinson Community College. She made Hutchinson, Kansas her home in 1952. She retired from the Law Enforcement Center in Environmental Services Department.
Lucretia was a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where she held the position of President of the Church Usher Board. She was a Lifetime member of the Hutchinson NAACP.
After retirement Lucretia enjoyed being a Community Historian and Arborist. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, walking, and attending the NJCAA men’s basketball tournament games.
Lucretia married Robert Eugene Nichols on May 17, 1959. Survivors include three sons, Bruce Sherod Nichols and Roger Ray Coffee, both of Hutchinson, KS, and Shawn Ray Coffee (grandson/son), Chicago, IL; brother Wayne Boylan, Los Angeles, CA; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Eugene Nichols in 1965; daughter, Laura Jean Ragsdale; son, Edward “Eddie” Tipton; two brothers, Napoleon Boylan and David Ough and three sisters, Augustus Ellison, Gwendolyn Carter, and Anna DeBaun.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1015 E 7th Ave Hutchinson, KS with the Reverend William J. Green, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The Repass will be held at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS. Memorials may be donated to the Davita Dialysis Center, Hutchinson, KS in care of the funeral chapel.
The Godmother of 2nd Street will be missed and never be forgotten.
