Arthur P. “Art” Strube, 79, formerly of Claflin died December 11, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society – Hutchinson Village. He was born December 14, 1944, in Great Bend, to Benjamin T. and Thelma E. (Jacobs) Strube.
Art graduated from Claflin High School in 1962. After high school he served in the Army for three years, and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Upon returning home, Art was an oil well pumper, worked on the rig. Later he served as vice president of D.S. & W. Well Servicing, Inc. in Claflin, KS. He enjoyed fishing at Wilson Lake, reading country westerns, and playing a multitude of card games, especially poker. Art was the bassist and back-up vocals for “Cross Country”. Art liked to fly and held a pilot’s license. Art was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Claflin.
On November 29, 1964, he married his lifelong love, Donna Lou Soeken, in Claflin. They recently shared their 60th wedding anniversary this past Thanksgiving.
Art is survived by: wife, Donna Strube of Hutchinson; daughters, Tonia Navarro of Hutchinson, Terese (Wade) Beal of Harper, Tiffany (Brent) Steinle of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren, Joshua Navarro, Haley Navarro, Taylor Claflin, Kendra Claflin and Kellen Claflin, Sydney Steinle and Austin Steinle; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; siblings, Dale Strube, Coette Litzenberger, Robert Strube and Joe Strube.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary, with military honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Pleasant View Cemetery, NE 130 Ave, Claflin. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, at Elliott Mortuary. Friends may call from 12 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary.
