James ‘Jim’ Edward Clifford |1935-2022|

James ‘Jim’ Edward Clifford, 87, passed away December 28, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS.  He was born February 23, 1935, in Hutchinson, KS, to Francis ‘Andy’ Edward Clifford and Mildred ‘Mid’ Irene (Arnold) Clifford. 

Jim served in the United States Navy active duty from 1957 to 1959.  He served an additional six years in the Navy Reserve.  He retired from Eaton Corporation, formerly Cessna Fluid Power Division, as a pump inspector.   He was previously employed at Pittsburg Plate Glass.  Following his retirement, he worked at Steffens Auto Parts for over 25 years and up until his passing. 

He was a member of the Cushman Motor Scooters Club and had many collections.   Jim was active in Boy Scouts, both with his sons and grandsons, and served as an assistant leader.   He was a member of the Black Powder Gun Club and the Machinists’ Union. 

On December 6, 1958, he married Janis Lee McComas, in Hutchinson, KS.  They shared over 64 years of marriage. 

Jim is survived by: his wife, Janis Clifford of Hutchinson, KS; children, Darin (Sheryl) Clifford of Hutchinson, KS, Bob (Sue Keazer) Clifford of South Hutchinson, KS, and Lori (Troy Jacobson) Clifford of Hutchinson, KS; grandchildren, Jimmy Clifford, Andy Clifford, Kylee (J.D. Dyke) Hawk, Jason (Ashley) Clifford, and Taylor (Alex) Clifford; great-grandchildren, Braden, Keaton, Easton, Tinley, Paisley, Jayley, Cash, and Viv; sister, Kathi (Alan) Wells of Hutchinson, KS; brother-in-law, Harold Henry of Hutchinson, KS; numerous nieces and nephews; and faithful canine companion, Murphy. 

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Dick Clifford; sister, Shirley Henry; and mother-in-law, Elnora McComas.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Buddy Aldridge officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS.  Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard.  Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2022, and from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2023, with the family present on Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.  The family requests friends to wear casual clothing and snap back caps to the service.
