
LINCOLN COUNTY–Two people died in a fire on Thursday in Lincoln, Kansas.
According to a media release from the Kansas State Fire Marshal, the fire occurred in the 300 Block E. Yauger Street in Lincoln. Two Special Agents/Certified Fire Investigators from the KSFM responded to assist with the investigation.
The fire involved multiple structures and was threatening others nearby. Fire crews were aware that at least two people could be inside the home. Attempts to make contact were unsuccessful. Due to high winds, the attached garage ignited, and another home and garage were damaged along with multiple vehicles.
An 82-year-old woman and a 63-year-old woman were found deceased. Four dogs also perished in the fire. The fire caused extensive damage to the residence, with nearly all the roof and the walls collapsing, allowing the 2nd story to collapse onto the 1st floor.
Autopsies are scheduled for both deceased. The cause remains under investigation.
