YODER, Kan. — The Liverwurst and Fried Mush fundraiser for Mennonite Friendship Communities is coming up Friday. The funds raised will pay for a special project this year.
"That is going to be supporting a new project that we have of redesigning the south entrance to our main healthcare building," said Dawn Veh with mfc. "That's what the funds are going toward this year."
There is a safety element to the construction, too.
"We're just getting some drawings from an architect," Veh said. "It has some fire sprinkling system in that area. Anytime we do that, we have to have drawings involved and send them to the state for them to approve."
It is a significant project for the home.
"The whole project is going to be about $125,000, with the drawings that we received last week," Veh said. "We will do this as the initial part of our fundraiser, then we will continue with that, depending on what the outcome of the proceeds are."
The event is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Journey @ Yoder. The church is about one mile north of the town of Yoder off Yoder Road. The meal is by freewill donation. They typically raise between $15,000 and $20,000 at the supper each year.
