MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. — Hutchinson native Jim Preston has been named the next head baseball coach at Moundridge High School, the school announced on Tuesday. He will be assisted by his son-in-law, Jack Conkling.
Preston will take over for Jason Rains, who spent the past three seasons as the Wildcats' head coach.
Preston served as the Hutchinson High School baseball coach from 2017-2022, where he guided the Salthawks to the class 6A state tournament in his first season.
He led Inman High School to two state tournament appearances between 2011-2016.
Preston is a Hutchinson High School graduate, and then went on to play on the first-ever HutchCC baseball team in 1975 and then finished his collegiate career at Kansas State.
