HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson’s Fox Theatre presents the Gulf Coast West Coast R&B Ramble with Marcia Ball plus Tommy Castro & the Painkillers right in the midst of the Hutchinson Rod Run. The concert is Friday, Oct. 1, with the Fox’s doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show at 8:00 p.m.
Texas-born, Louisiana-raised pianist, songwriter and vocalist Marcia Ball has a long and storied career. Ball, the 2018 Texas State Musician of The Year, has won worldwide fame and countless fans for her ability to ignite a full-scale roadhouse rhythm and blues party every time she takes the stage. Her rollicking Texas boogies, swampy New Orleans ballads and groove-laden Gulf Coast blues have made her a one-of-a-kind favorite with music lovers all over the world.
Tommy Castro first picked up a guitar at age 10. He fell under the spell of Elvin Bishop, Taj Mahal, Mike Bloomfield and other blues artists of the day. Mixing the blues and rock and roll he loved and the soul music he heard blasting from lowriders in his neighborhood, Tommy started to create his own personal sound and has not disappointed.
“The safety of Fox guests, staff, volunteers, and artists remains of the utmost importance and will require some minor changes. Ushers will seat Friday night's guests in a socially-distanced pattern throughout the theatre,” Executive Director Chuck Miller said. “While you might not have the exact seat you purchased, we will do our very best to seat you in the section of your purchase.” The Fox requests that you wear a mask while inside the building.
For the interim, the FOX will be asking all staff and volunteers to wear a mask or face shield, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated. Reserved seats for Friday’s show are $40, $35, & $30, available at the Fox Box Office, 877-FOX SHOW or www.hutchinsonfox.com.
