Karan A. Kornelson, 81, formerly of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully December 16, 2022, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler, KS. She was born September 17, 1941, in Hutchinson, KS, to William Kornelson and Rosella (Warkentin) Kornelson. Karan was the fourth of five children and grew up in Inman, KS.
She graduated from Inman High School in 1959 and was active in band, choir, and journalism. Karan worked at Femco and Road Ranger campers in McPherson, KS. Her longest employment was at McPherson Memorial Hospital, where she served in many roles, with the most recent being a Radiology Assistant.
Karan enjoyed visiting with friends and spending time quilting and knitting. She loved playing with her favorite dog, Weezer. Karan was married in 1959 and had three sons.
Karen is survived by: her sons, Brian (Rebecca) Christensen of Clearwater, KS, Joel (Christina) Christensen of Fort Calhoun, NE, and Royce Christensen of Olathe, KS; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Kornelson; and sister, Caralou Kornelson Cooprider.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Robert Kornelson; and sister, Zella Kornelson Heim.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Inman North Cemetery, 8th and Cheyenne Road, Inman, KS. Following the burial, a Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Inman Community Center, 406 E. Center Street, Inman, KS. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
