HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Public Works says that work is scheduled to begin soon on the West 11th Avenue reconstruction project.
The first phase of work will involve complete reconstruction of 11th Avenue from Woodlawn to just east of Orchard Street. That area of W 11th from Whiteside to to Orchard will be closed during that time. Trash service will be available for pick up at the east end of the work during this phase of the project. Public works says that this part of the project should take about seven weeks to complete.
The first phase of the project is part of an overall reconstruction of about one mile of W 11th Avenue between Main and the flood canal. It includes a new roadway, curb and gutter and sidewalks between the canal and Monroe. Between Monroe and Main the road will be partially reconstructed including removing and replacing sidewalks, curb and gutter and a mill and overlay of the street surface.
Vogts/ Parga LLC of Newton is doing the work at a cost of $2,664,126. The project is expected to last throughout the summer causing street closures in various sections of W 11th.
