HUTCHINSON, Kan. —  The defending NBC World Series champion Hutchinson Monarchs will have its home opener on Monday Hobart-Detter Field. The Monarchs host the Wichita Dirt Bags with first pitch at 7 p.m.

The Monarchs are back for their 16th season of play in Hutchinson.

The Monarchs are slated for 20 home games with all 20 games set to be video streamed on hutchpost.com as well as on the monarchslive.tv channel. Glen Grunwald will have the play-by-play duties.

Casey Lippoldt is back for his second season as Monarchs manager after leading the Monarchs to their first-ever NBC World Series title.

This seasons roster includes five players that are from the Hutchinson area, including Buhler High and HutchCC alum Reed Scott, who closed out the Monarchs’ championship win with a huge strikeout over Santa Barbara Foresters.

Another huge fan favorite is  former Buhler standout pitcher Bradley Neill, who just wrapped up a great career at HutchCC. Other area players are pitcher Camden Cornelius from Nickerson, pitcher Derick Johnson from Inman, and Drew Bugner from Andale.

Other HutchCC players with the Monarchs are pitcher Cole Toureau, utility Blake Bradford, and catcher Colin Cymbalista.
