Teresa Murillo, 85, died April 18, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born Teresita Berta Reyes in Columbus, NM, to Guadalupe Terrazas Reyes and Amador Z. Reyes Sr.  Teresa grew up in Hurley, NM, attending Cobre High School. 

Teresa married her husband, Ruben M. Murillo Sr. June 15, 1956, in New Mexico and then moved to Hutchinson. She was a devoted housewife and mother and later in life, Teresa worked as a custodian for 17 years at Hutchinson Community College. Teresa was a 32-year cancer survivor and grateful to the Cancer Council of Reno County.

A lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Teresa put her faith into action. She loved her prayer group, and was involved with Perpetual Adoration since its inception. Teresa loved praying the Divine Mercy, the Rosary, attending Mass and giving bendiciones/blessings. She was a devoted Catholic, which was the core of her faith foundation. Teresa was dedicated to demonstrating Christ’s love to all who met her.

Survivors are: her children, Ruben Murillo Jr. (Larry Van Sickle) of Henderson, NV, Robert Murillo, Adella Luna and David (Dreda) Murillo, all of Hutchinson; close family friend, Tim Ward, OH; grandchildren, Anthony Delgado, Sal Luna, Lisa (DJ) Chapman, Emily (Nick) Brady and Nicholas Murillo; great-grandchildren, Taiyah, Tyris, Taryn and Nehemiah Chapman, Matthew Delgado and Evelyn Delgado, Alayna and Lilyana Luna; sisters, Maria Moreno, Edna Ordonez, Martha (Andrew) Garcia, Olga (Wero) Huerta, and Rose Marie (Jose) Sierra; and brother-in-law, Frank Viegra.  Teresa dearly loved her nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Ruben M. Murillo Sr.; mother, Guadalupe Terrazas Reyes; father, Amador Z. Reyes Sr.; father and mother-in-law, Baldomero (Adela) Murillo; brothers and sisters-in-law, Amador (Patsy) Reyes Jr. and Irma (Manuel) Huerta; brother-in-law, Cruz Ordonez; sister-in-law Alice Viegra; nephews, Michael Moreno and Amador Reyes III; and her Godchildren, Tanner Flores and Gina Navarro.

The Murillo family will be forever grateful to Traditions Health Hospice Care, especially Julie Carlton, for the loving care provided.

Parish Rosary will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., with Father Eric M. Weldon officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Cancer Council of Reno County or Our Lady of Guadalupe Adoration Chapel, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS, 67501.
