
Bobby Lee Higgins, 86, of McPherson, and formerly of Burlington, Larned and Macksville, passed away on Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, at his home.
Bobby was born on Feb. 17, 1937, in Bazine, KS, the son of Melvin Louis and Fern Emma (Cooley) Higgins. He graduated from Macksville High School.
He managed several Kansas Duckwall’s stores including Burlington, McPherson and Larned stores. Bobby also managed C.O. Mammal’s grocery store in Macksville. He was the automotive department manager at Walmart in Billings, Montana. He also worked part-time for Lowes after retirement.
Bobby was a United States Army Veteran.
He enjoyed his morning breakfast at Five Loaves and 56 Family Restaurant, volunteering at the ReUse It Center, and time spent at the McPherson Senior Center.
Survivors include: children, Judy Hutson (Ray) of Burlington, KS, James Higgins (Valorie) of Burlington, KS, Kim Hatch (Eric) of Burlington, KS, and Kathy Miller (Uri) of McPherson, KS; sisters, Penny Ritchie (Virgil) of Lewis, KS and Karen Spencer of Minneola, KS; son-in-law, Lynn Rundle of Abbington, VA; step-daughters, Denise Byfield of Emporia, KS and Debbie Musick (Doug) of Joplin, MO; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Jean Rundle, two brothers, Keith Higgins and Wayne Higgins, and grandson, Jacob Kopfman.
A memorial service with Military Honors will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Casual dress is encouraged. The final resting place will be in Farmington Cemetery, Macksville.
