WICHITA, Kan. (Hutch Post) — A dog found with its mouth taped shut in Wichita will be headed to a Hutchinson rescue.

Wichita police say that their animal services bureau investigated an incident that happened near Kellogg and Main on Tuesday evening.

Police say that they have identified the dog's owner, who has been cited for animal cruelty, and that he has surrendered the dog to them.

Hutchinsons Redemption animal rescue picked up the dog from the Wichita Animal Shelter Saturday afternoon.

The rescue says that they will take the dog, named lucky, and he will receive vaccinations, microchipping and will be neutered and placed in a foster home before being available for adoption.

Wichita police say that they encourage everyone to report concerns about animal abuse directly to them. Timely reporting allows us to respond quickly and verify the safety of the animals involved.
