
DODGE CITY, Kan. — No. 25 Hutchinson (21-4, 15-4) held Dodge City's leading scorer to 10 points in a narrow victory Wednesday night.
Krystina Hagood was coming off a career-high 24 points and 7 of 10 made threes against Butler, but the Dragons held her to 10 total points on 2 of 5 shooting.
Hagood got help from four other Conquistadors that scored in double digits. The bench effort came after seven Conqs scored no more than three against Hutchinson in the Sports Arena earlier this season.
Hutchinson shot 41.1% from the field and 42.1% from distance on eight made triples.
Dodge City (14-10, 9-9) shot only 30.4% in the first half, but finished at 45.6% after a 55.9% second-half performance.
Jada Burton led the Conqs with 16 points.
Hutchinson built a 13-point lead before Hagood was fouled on a three-point heave at the halftime buzzer.
She hit all three free throws to cut the Dragon lead to 36-26.
Dodge City outscored Hutchinson by eight in the third quarter to cut the lead to 47-45.
The Dragons got another strong performance from Mya Williams, who finished with 29 points. Seventeen of those points came in the fourth quarter.
Mel Kailahi added 14 points, nine rebounds and five steals.
Tor'e Alford finished with 11 points, seven came from the free throw line.
Dodge City tied the game at 68 with 1:29 left before Alford was fouled on a three-point try. She made all three free throws to put Hutchinson up 71-68 with 49 seconds left.
Dodge City failed to get another three from Hagood and Hutchinson extended the lead to six.
The Conqs got a desperation three that banked off the glass and in at the buzzer from Samantha Koeberer.
