
Nancy J. Porter, 71, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025, at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater, KS. She was born April 23, 1953, in Denver, Colorado to Wilford L. and Donna M. (Wyer) Nusser Sr.
Nancy graduated from Robert E. Peary High School, Rockville, MD in 1971. She later attended Hutchinson Community College where she received her Associates of Arts degree. She was a bus driver for School Service and Leasing for six years.
In Nancy’s free time, she enjoyed writing her own books and reading. In 1996, she got the opportunity to drive a bus for the Olympics in Atlanta, GA, where she shuttled the Olympic contenders to and from events. On December 28, 1974, Nancy married Bruce E. Porter in Gaithersburg, MD. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Hutchinson.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Bruce; and three sisters, Dianna Miller, Elaina Nusser and Marilynn Quidachay.
She is survived by her two daughters, Amanda (Adrian) Caldwell and Leona (Jason) Duerksen; and four grandchildren, Coyote Caldwell, Phoenix Caldwell, River Duerksen, and Lyra Duerksen.
Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. A graveside service will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to Wheat State Manor or Good Shepherd Hospice and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502.
