
HESSTON, Kan. — Harvey County Public Works says the third phase of the Hesston Road project will be getting underway next week. The second phase of the project should also open soon after.
The second stage of road work includes the roadway from Northwest 48th Street to the Hesston city limits. Shoulder work, permanent striping and permanent signing on that section will begin later this week and is projected to be completed early next week, and upon completion, the county will reopen Hesston Road in full between the Hesston and Newton city limits.
The third stage of the improvement project includes West Dutch Avenue on the northwest side of Hesston to the county line at Northwest 108th Street. That section of road will be closed to traffic in both directions during the project. Drivers are encouraged to plan an alternate route.
After work is completed in the third stage, the resurfacing project will next move to work inside the Hesston city limits.Homeowners and businesses will continue to have access to their properties throughout.
The entire project is expected to be completed in December.
