RENO COUNTY, Kan. — The Reno County Sheriff's Office received several reports Tuesday about a scammer claiming to be Lance Smith with the sheriff’s office. 

This “Lance Smith” is contacting citizens by phone, demanding they pay a $5,000 fine to stay out of jail.  The Reno County Sheriff's Office will not contact you over the phone regarding a warrant or payment of said warrant. 

Please call the sheriff’s office at 620-694-2735 with any questions. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY TYPE OF PERSONAL OR BANKING INFORMATION OF ANY KIND!&nbsp;

Sheriff issues scam alert
