Lowell Robert Good, 94, of Moundridge, Kansas, formerly of Hesston, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023 at Pine Village. He was born February 12, 1929 in Elida, Ohio, the son of Aaron and Elizabeth (Good) Good.
He graduated from Elida High School with the class of 1947.
Lowell was united in marriage to Lena Schmidt on August 20, 1948 in Elida. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2008, after a brief illness. They were married for 59 years.
Lowell started his career in Delphos, Ohio working as a mechanic for General Motors Dealership from 1947 to 1956. Following the family move to Kansas, he went to work for Holsteins Dealership in Newton. In 1958, Lowell began working for Hesston Corporation until his retirement in 1994. At Hesston Corp, Lowell started working in engineering, building prototype machines and taking them around the country to field test the designs. Lowell became the model for several advertising brochures showing him on the equipment. In the early 70’s, he changed departments to the machine shop and was involved in special projects. After retirement, Lowell started building spec homes, which he enjoyed doing for nearly 10 years.
He was a member of the Hesston Mennonite Church and Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America.
Lowell’s hobbies included working in his workshop building and exploring ideas he had and he found joy in turning items on his homemade lathe. He had a fascination with airplanes and took flying lessons for his private, commercial and instructor rating. Lowell also spent his time singing barbershop music for a number of years.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Twila) Good of Moundridge; daughter, Ronalda (John Allen) Moore of Whittsett, NC; three grandchildren and their families, Rob (Sonja) Good of Hesston, and their children, Danika (Tyler) Holcomb and Ashylnn Good; Matthew (Shawnette) Good of Buford, GA and their children, Judson (Kymberlee) Richey and their daughter, Maisy Jane, and AnnaGrace Richey; and Katherine Moore and her children, George, Emily and Ben Moore; and sisters, Bertha (Ivan) Bontrager of Hesston, and Helen (Eldon) Heatwole of Palm Bay, FL.
Lowell was also preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Stephanie Moore; great-grandson, Joshua Richey; sister, Dorthea Sauder; and brother, Marvin Good.
