New details on ATV accident that killed Kansas man

JEFFERSON COUNTY —The Kansas Highway Patrol finally released details on a fatal accident that occurred just before 9p.m. March 8, in Jefferson County.

On Monday, the Patrol reported a 2017 Honda ATV driven by Brady P. Nellis, 18, Valley Falls, and a 2019 Polaris ATV driven by Carter C. McCauley, 19, Holton, were eastbound side-by-side on Half Mound Road at Coal Creek Road approximately four and one half miles north of Valley Falls.

The rear passenger of the Honda identified as Nicholas R. Brull, 20, Effingham, exited ATV while it was in motion and was struck by the Polaris.

Brull was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Barnett Family Funeral Home, according to the KHP.  Nellis, McCauley and two passengers on the Honda identified as Ella M. McKelvey, 19, Atchison and Grant M. Mayer, 18, Valley Falls, were not injured.
