Maxwell Wildlife Refuge

MCPHERSON COUNTY, Kan. — Elk Day is coming up on Saturday, Jan. 13 at Maxwell Wildlife Refuge near Canton in McPherson County. 

Enjoy a 45-minute tram tour viewing elk, as well as a visit into the bison herd. Tours will start at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

A narrator will be on the tour sharing historical facts about the prairie and wildlife.

Then, return to the tour center for an elk chili feed, by donation. 

The tour is $15 for adults and $7.50 per child. To register, call (620) 654-7230 or email [email protected] for reservations.

Maxwell Wildlife Refuge is at 2565 Pueblo Road in McPherson County.
