Joel Ray Scott, 64, of Hutchinson, died May 11, 2024, at Hospice House. He was born October 17, 1959, in Hutchinson, to Bill and Barbara Scott of Burrton.

Joel graduated from Burrton High School and attended Vo-tech and trade schools. A self-employed entrepreneur, he owned and operated Scotty’s Auction House, Scotty’s Furniture & Appliance, and was also a truck driver. Joel was a “wheeler/dealer” who loved to make a deal and enjoyed garage sales and going to casinos. But most of all, he loved his grandchildren and attending all their events. Joel was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #982.

On April 18, 1987, he married Jayne M. Leiker, in Hutchinson. They later divorced but remained close.

Joel is survived by: his children, Jessica & T.J. Dilbeck of Hutchinson, Jeremy Gentry of Buhler, Cassandra & Miles Morin of Wichita, Jamie & Kirstie Scott of Hutchinson; grandchildren; Jakob Dilbeck of Wichita, Emily Dilbeck and fiancé Evan Remar of Hutchinson, Jeremy Gentry Jr. of Buhler, Gavin Scott of Hutchinson, Kaiden Scott of Hutchinson, Hudson Scott of Hutchinson, Alexie Morin of Wichita, Ava Scott of Hutchinson, Aaliyah Morin of Wichita; sisters, Tamara Kanatzar of Topeka, Jill & Mike Meacham of Burrton; uncle, Roger & Janet Scott of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Nancy Scott of Hutchinson; former wife, Jayne Leiker of Wichita; and many extended family members and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tim Scott.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Elliott Chapel. A reception will follow at Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #982, 1401 E 1st Ave., beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The service will be livestreamed and the link to view it will be active beginning at 9:45 a.m. the day of the service.

Private family burial will be held in Burrton Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
