Annual food drive coming up Wednesday

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Feeding the hungry isn’t a job for just one church.

It takes a group of friends who believe that together we make a difference.

For the sixth consecutive year, there will be a Thanksgiving Food Drive with churches from across Hutchinson called “We’ll Leave Our Lights On.”

Sanctuary lights will shine in 20 Hutchinson churches on Wednesday, Nov. 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Churches participating are: 

1. Cedar Crest Amish Mennonite

2. Center Amish Mennonite

3. Community Church of the Brethren

4. Crossroads Christian

5. Crosspoint

6. Emanuel Lutheran

7. Faith United Methodist

8. First Congregational

9. First Mennonite

10. First Presbyterian

11. First United Methodist

12. Grace Episcopal

13. Holy Cross Catholic Church

14. Journey Mennonite

15. Living Hope FWB

16. Macedonia Baptist

17. New Covenant Presbyterian

18. Park Place Christian

19. Tenth Avenue United Methodist

20. Trinity United Methodist

The Food Bank of Reno County suggests the donation of these items:

Hamburger Helper, pastas and pasta sauce, peanut butter, jelly and jam, saltine crackers, mac & cheese, dry cereals, instant oatmeal, canned meats, canned fruits, canned soups, instant potatoes and instant rice, and pancake mix & syrup.

The donated food may be brought to any participating church.
