KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement investigating one of four homicides in Kansas City, Missouri last week identified the victim as 20-year-old Billy Duren, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
Just after 11a.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to report of an injury accident at 48th Terrace and Vermont Avenue, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina. While en route officers were advised the call was a possible shooting call.
First responders located an electric motorbike at the scene abandoned, as well as indications of a shooting crime scene. Officers were told that the victim, later identified as Billy Duren, had been transported to the hospital by KCFD EMS prior to their arrival.
Additional officers responded to the hospital and made contact with medical personnel who were treating Duren. Emergency medical personnel advised the victim had been shot and was in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates Duren was shot at the location where the electric bike was located in the intersection. Late Thursday, detectives were notified from the hospital that Duren died from his injuries.
