Unemployment rate falls in Sept.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The unemployment rate for Reno County fell by a full percentage point in September.

According to figures released by the Kansas Department of Labor, the jobless rate in Reno County fell to 3.5%. The unemployment rate in 2020 was 5.7%.

There were 1,057 county residents out of work in September compared with 1,326 in August. It is the second straight month the jobless rate has fallen after two straight months of increases over the summer.

The state jobless rate was 3.9%, up from 3.8% in August.
