Police arrest Kan. man for alleged shooting at occupied vehicle

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting and have a suspect in custody.

Just after 5:37 p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to a disturbance and possible shots fired in the area of SE 31st Street and SE Adams Street in Topeka, according to Lt. Ron Ekis.

 The investigation led to the arrest of Leonardo Martinez-Sanchez, 36, of Topeka, on requested charges of Shooting at an Occupied Vehicle, Aggravated Assault, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Assault, Battery and Criminal Damage, according to Ekis. He remains in custody, according to online jail records.
