HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Public Works announced Tuesday that they will be testing a new GridSmart® camera starting Wednesday at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Monroe.
The testing period will last approximately three to six months and aims to evaluate how well this technology can improve the flow of traffic. The city hopes the new technology will enhance traffic safety around the busy intersection especially for bicycles and pedestrians.
This GridSmart® camera will only be used to ensure the safe and efficient flow of traffic. It will not read, log, or store license plate information, be used in issuing traffic violations, or use any sort of facial recognition software to monitor pedestrian traffic.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns you can contact Public Works at 620-694-1900.
