Virginia LaRee Shumpert, 61, died February 7, 2023, at Chase County Care and Rehab, Cottonwood Falls. She was born September 6, 1961, in Partridge, to Anthony David and Janice LaRee (Northrop) McGraw.

Virginia graduated from Nickerson High School in 1979. Following graduation, she attended Fort Hays State University for four years. Virginia played basketball, baseball and track in high school, and in college she was a bowler. Above all, she was a devoted mother and grandmother who always put her family first.

She was a member of South Hutchinson Christian Church.

Virginia is survived by: son, Alexander (Morgan) Shumpert of Hutchinson; brother, David (Beverly) McGraw of Brandon, FL; and grandchildren, Marcus and Charleigh.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Anthony and Janice McGraw; sister, Colleen Millett; and two brothers, Anthony and Daniel McGraw.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Elliott Chapel, with Deacon Todd Ray officiating.

Virginia and family requested that everyone attending the service, wear yellow.

Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary.
