Time for planning Christmas travel is upon us

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — While many are planning to travel at least a short distance this Thanksgiving holiday it’s also time to be planning that Christmas holiday trip. Laura Meyer-Dick with First National Travel says while some people are traveling some distance for Thanksgiving, many are waiting until Christmas.

“Thanksgiving hasn’t been quite as popular but we are seeing a lot more for the Christmas holiday because I think it’s a little bit longer stint of time,”  Meyer-Dick said. “People are taking those bigger trips and need that extra time.”

Meyer-Dick says to keep a close eye on your flight as things can change quickly.

“You need to reconfirm your flight, make sure you turn on your text messages to get notification on flight delays,” meyer-Dick said. “ A lot of the airlines are having computer problems and that has caused a mess.”

As always make sure you arrive at the airport early to get through checkpoints and prepare for travel. You may also need a vaccination card to travel to some places and of course you’ll need a mask at the airport and on board your flight.
